Approaching York from the South:

• Follow the A1 North or M1 North (via A1 Link) to where they join the A64 Leeds - York/Scarborough road.

• Take the A64 towards York/Scarborough.

• Follow the A64 York Bypass for approximately 19 miles ignoring all signs and
slip roads for York (i.e. go past slip roads signed A1237, A1036, A19, A166/A1079) and continue until you come up to the traffic lights at the first roundabout on theA64.

• At the traffic lights take the left hand exit lane, signed A1036 York. Keep in this lane.

• At the next set of traffic lights (approx. 150 metres), keep in the left hand approach lane and take the first exit, signed A1036 York

• Take the first left turn (after approx. 300 metres) just before the 'Hopgrove Pub & Toby Carvery' into Hopgrove Lane South, signed Hopgrove and Stockton-on-Forest.

• At the first T junction, turn right, signed York - this is Stockton Lane. Blakeney Guest House is on the left after one and a half miles.

Approaching York from the North:

• Follow the A1(M) South to where it joins the A59 Harrogate - York road.

• Take the A59 towards York until you reach the A1237.

• Turn left (first exit) onto the A1237 York Outer Ring Road, signed Scarborough and Malton.

• Follow A1237 towards Scarborough (going straight on at several roundabouts) until you reach traffic lights at a roundabout where the third exit is signed A1036 York. Take the A1036 towards York.

• Follow the last two paragraphs in the Section above - 'Approaching York from the South'.

Approaching from York City Centre:

• Take A1036 Malton Road north (signed A64 Scarborough) from the City Walls near Monkbar Gate, along Monkgate. Go straight over the first roundabout (second exit) into Heworth Green.

• At the next roundabout, take the right hand approach lane and go straight over (second exit) into Stockton Lane. Blakeney Guest House is on the right hand side after half a mile.

    Access Statement for Blakeney House Introduction Blakeney House is 4 star Guest Accommodation. The Dining Room, Guest Lounge and front entrance are on the ground floor with a small raised threshold into the hallway. Pre-Arrival • Guests can book via phone, fax, email from the website, minicom. • The 1 ground floor rooms are available to guests with mobility impairment who are accompanied. • The city centre is approximately 20 minutes flat walk away, or there is a bus from outside the accommodation every half an hour which has wheelchair access. • Taxis are readily available. Arrival & Car Parking Facilities • The guest accommodation has its own well-lit signed tarmacadamed car park at the rear. • The path from the car park is flat and made of concrete and lit at night. • Guests can drop off and pick up at the front of the property if they so wish. • The gateway and path is wide enough to take a wheelchair. • There is assistance with luggage as required. • There is a low level bell to allow access. Main Entrances Reception & Ticketing Area • There is one entrance into the property which has a 2 inch threshold riser. • The doorbell is situated at wheelchair height. • The front door is large and opens into the hall and reception area. • There is a reception bell to call for assistance at wheelchair height by the side of the reception desk; this is clearly signed. • The hall way is flat. Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc • The public areas are all on the level and are carpeted throughout. • All of the corridors and stairs are well lit day and night. Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc • Off the main hallway is the lounge. It is carpeted, contains a TV and easy chairs. This is where we charge up electric wheelchairs overnight. • Down the corridor is the Dining Room. These rooms are all on the same level. Public WCs • The toilet is on the first floor. • We do have a downstairs toilet for use by the disabled but this does not have disabled facilities — it is suitable for people on sticks or crutches. Dining Room • The dining room is situated at the end of the hallway. The dining room is carpeted throughout, and has 3 large windows. • We cater for all allergies and diets but in particular, coeliac/gluten free, dairy free, vegetarians. • Staff are always on hand to ask or sort out any difficulties. Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas • We have one ground floor room, it is suitable for wheelchairs. But the person would have to be able to stand in the en-suite. They are suitable for disabled guests with a helper and a small amount of mobility. We can provide temporary grip handles and a shower stool. • All the TVs have remote controls. • The other bedrooms are located on the first floor up an easy staircase of 13 stairs onto a half landing, then up 2 steps to the other landing. • All the bedrooms have tea making facilities with cordless kettles. • All the bedrooms are carpeted. Bathrooms Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared] • The en-suite bathrooms are all individual. Some with showers, some with baths and showers over. • Where possible grab rails have been fitted in the bathrooms. • The flooring in some of the bathrooms is non slip polysafe, some of the bathrooms have carpet. Grounds and Gardens • There is a garden at the front of the property. • There is a sitting area near the front door. • The footpaths are all level concrete. Additional Information • All escape routes are clearly signed with details of the assembly point in case of fire. • Guests must make management and staff aware of any disability at the time of booking. • The Guest House is non smoking throughout. • Guide dogs are accepted if guests make staff aware at the time of booking. • All mobile phones work throughout the hotel. • We have no interconnecting rooms. • Medication is stored in the main fridge and guests must make staff aware if it is needed during the night. • In the event of an emergency during the night staff will come to the aid of the disabled person.
