“Excellent service and great location! ”

Windermere and Milbeck Guest House gave me the perfect access to the Lake District

I decided to make an overnight trip to Windermere from Manchester last minute. I booked my reservation just a few hours before arriving and when I arrived late, everything was ready to go. The morning breakfast was delicious and the perfect amount of food to fill me up for my day of hiking. There were also plenty of maps and the staff was very knowledgeable on bus schedules and the area.

I visited end of November and arrived after dark, in the pouring rain. The walk from the train station might be a bit long if you have a lot of luggage, but if you are traveling light, it was no problem - just anticipate if it is raining, you will be quite wet by the time you arrive. It was quite easy to find and well marked, off the main road in Windermere. I did have to stop in a local shop to ask specific directions since I didn't have a town map, but they were very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. The area was beautiful, even in November.
