From the North:
We find the most attractive and enjoyable drive from the North is via Chester, Wrexham, Oswestry, Welshpool, Lydham, Knighton, Whitton and Evenjobb. This takes you along the picturesque border lands, and through some lovely towns and villages. From Evenjobb, follow the minor road signposted to Llanandras & Presteigne. Continue on the road signposted to Presteigne, Barland and Burfa. Where the road branches left, to Burfa and Barland, keep right and follow the road around the foot of Burfa’s Camp to meet up with the B4362. At this point you will have met up with the ancient route of Offa’s Dyke, the 10th century border between Wales and England. Turn left along the B4362 and the entrance to Quarry House can be found 200 meters on the left.
From the A44 South / East / West:
Whether you are arriving from the Midlands, the South, or anywhere in between we would recommend travelling via Leominster, Pembridge, Kington and Walton. There is a little less traffic than travelling via Hereford, and you will join the black-and-white trail as it passes through the delightful village of Pembridge, just 15 minutes from Quarry House. The M50 provides good access from the M5. Take the Ledbury exit, and follow signs to Leominster. From Leominster follow the A44 all the way to Walton. Some satnavs will try and take you right along Dunfield Lane. Whilst this is a slightly shorter route it is best avoided. Just as you enter Walton turn right along the B4362. Quarry House entrance is located approx 2 miles along this road on the left, 200m after the turning to Evenjobb.
From West we would also suggest approaching via the A44, and turning left along the B4362 on entering Walton.
From South Wales you’d find it hard to beat a journey through the Brecon Beacons National Park, taking in Hay-on Wye on route and approaching Kington via Eardisley. From Kington follow directions above along the A44 to Walton.
