Price for Byre Cottage is for occupancy of 4. Additional double ensuite room (Hayloft) linked directly into cottage is available for £100 per week extra. Short breaks subject to availability.

Whether you are walking, cycling, fishing, golfing, touring or escaping this is an ideal base to return to in an evening.
Nestled in the foot hills of the Pennines, Blencarn sits just under Cross fell - the highest point on the Pennines. The Eden Valley area has great walking opportunities, villages and places of interest to explore. It is just a short trip to the Lake District National Park where you can reach Lake Ullswater within 20 minutes and on the Keswick and the North Lakes. Alternatively, you are close to exploring Northhumberland and County Durham where you will soon be on “Hadrians wall”

The Granary offers weekly bookings starting on any day.

From A66 heading west towards Penrith. Stay on A66 past Appleby and after 2 miles take right turn towards Long Marton. Follow until reach T junction, by church and turn left. Continue on this road through Milburn and follow signs for Blencarn. Once in the village then Midtown Farm can be seen on your right-hand side.

From M6 jct 40 heading east from Penrith towards Brough, follow A66 to next roundabout. Take second exit on A686 to Alston. Carry on this road for about 3 miles until you reach Langwathby. Follow road through village and under railway bridge. As you come up hill you will see brown sign for Blencarn fishing lake, take this right and follow the road into Skirwith. In the centre of the village take right turn towards Blencarn and as you come out of the village you will see a left turn again signposted to Blencarn. Follow this road until you arrive in the village. Follow road round to the right and we are about 200 yards on the left.

“Excellent - Great location for exploring Ullswater”

Very well equipped and spacious cottage - much bigger than is suggested by the photos! Owner could not have been more helpful. Location is slightly out of the way down country lanes but we had detailed directions. Would definitely stay here again if visiting this part of the Lakes another time. Local pubs do great food.
