Directions – from A590 at Newby Bridge, take the turning for the Hawkshead road over the river by the Swan Hotel. We recommed that for finding the property easily you follow the wider/easier road to Lakeside (rather than taking the narrow Finsthwaite signed route by the river). After passing Lakside Hotel contine 1 mile to Low Stott Park, take the left turn on the bend before the Bobbin Mill, signposted Finsthwaite. Drive approx 1 mile past the High Dam car park entrance and into the village, you will see the church across the field on the left, as the road starts to rise look for the post box on the right. Park on the road between the double gate by the post box and Tanyard cottage gate. The cottage is accessed down 5 slate steps the small garden area.
To find the cottage by arriving by driving the other direction down through the village of Finsthwaite. The village is a couple of hamlets about a mile appart, pass the ‘big house’ continue until you go through a farm and down a hill. Look for the row of cottages on the left opposite the turning to the church with the post box nearby.

    “GOOD”

The property was well maintained and clean the only problem was the double bed needed a new mattress as it was well past its best,
Apart from that we had a good peacefull break with some good walks straight from the door and a nice pub at Newby Bridge.

    Notes

    • The cottage is accessed down slate steps so is not recommended for those with difficulty walking. The garden has a rockery and raised areas which could be a hazard for unsupervised toddlers, families with children capable of understanding and managing the risks should have no problem Phone signal for emergencies - the cottage has thick stone walls and many networks do not work. Best reception is with Vodofone although this may only be in the window or porch. Nearest phone is 1 mile Stott Park
