Field Barn
(cottage sleeps 4)
£500.00
Book

Field Barn faces south, a little up the hill from the farm in a grass field, as its name suggests. Its ha-ha (sunken wall) means that it enjoys uninterrupted views over the moorland edge.

The beamed entrance hall opens onto carpeted lounge which has beams, two rustic stone walls and living flame gas stove; large french windows and arrow windows give panoramic views over valleys and woods.
The hall also opens onto a large, tiled, fitted kitchen with stone-walled dining area, and french windows giving access to another patio area overlooking the historic farm and mill buildings, woods & open moorland. There are two arrow windows with views up and down the valley.
The carpeted staircase winds up to two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with fitted vanity units, drawers, wardrobes and enclosed shelf space. Each has wonderful views over open countryside. The bedlinen is co-ordinated and plentiful with either duvets or blankets. The bathroom has bath suite, washbasin, toilet and powerful shower over the bath.
Services - Full oil-fired central heating, and gas for hob and fire. Colour TV, video, DVD, CD/radio, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and payphone are all provided.
There is ample parking space in the enclosed yard at the cottage; further parking is provided in the farmyard which is approximately 50 yards from the cottage.

v Short breaks can be arranged during January, February, November and December excluding half-terms and Christmas/New Year. Please note that payment can only be by cheque or bank transfer, no cards accepted.

Field Barn offers weekly bookings starting on Saturday and short breaks of 3 days starting on any day in some seasons.

Lowna Farmhouse
(house sleeps 8)
£900.00
Book

Lowna is the beautiful heart of Surprise View. Seen from the vantage point at the church in Gillamoor, it is like a jewel set in the green and gold of the Moors and woodlands and valleys. It has a timeless quality, and yet has been brought into the 21st Century with all the latest skills that master-builders can craft.
It has an entrance hall leading into a spacious farmhouse kitchen with tiled floor and Aga; choose either to eat in here round the large kitchen table or in the elegant, oak-floored dining room which has an equally large oak table and upholstered chairs. From here you can stroll out onto the paved sitting-out area of the garden for drinks or have breakfast in the morning sun round the mill-wheel garden table.
Walk from the dining room into the spacious sitting room which welcomes you with a roaring log fire, and sofas and chairs that you can sink into! A large flat-screen TV and hi-fi system complete the relaxation zone. A telephone is provided and for those unable to resist a dabble, Wi-fi is freely available!
From the hallway climb up the oak staircase into deep-carpeted bedrooms.
The two double rooms each have luxurious king-sized beds with memorize mattresses and feather and down duvets and crisp cotton linen; fluffy white towels in each ensuite shower room add up to a cosseted stay!
There are two twin bedrooms one of which has its own ensuite shower room and the second twin room is next to the newly fitted family bathroom; each of the full-sized single beds has feather and down duvets and crisp cotton linen; please ask if you would prefer blankets. Fluffy white towels and toiletries are plentiful.
All the bedrooms are sunny and have wonderful views looking out onto fields and woods and down to the river Dove and the valley below.
Linen, towels and all other services are included in the rent. Flat-screen TV, CD/radio, DVD, washing machine, drier, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and telephone are provided; there is broadband available via Wi-fi. All the utilities, ie. washer and drier, freezer and boiler are in the good-sized utility room next to the downstairs cloakroom.
We welcome families into all the cottages but Lowna Farmhouse is especially suitable for larger groups - extended family groups, walkers or cyclists, bird lovers, country lovers -we are in the heart of the National Park and are on the very edge of the Moors which is one of the largest Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the country - business groups, those interested in the many sporting activities in the area or those who just want a haven of quiet and calm!

All payments to be made by cheque;or bank transfer, cards not accepted

“Relaxed and "away from it all"”

Cottage was immaculately clean & well presented.
Mrs Wass had provided all the basic toiletries and kitchen cleaners etc as well as tea and cake on arrival - much appreciated!

The cottage is right on the edge of the moors so perfect for walks & travel to other areas??
Our children loved having the sheep right on your doorstep but they were cleverly kept not too close by a charming haha wall.
    Recommended to couples, families, anyone...
