“We cancelled and email communication was not good.”

we decided to cancel due to dangerous weather conditions.
In the first call inquiring about cancellation policies, I was told that there is no refund. In the second call, I cancelled the booking. Also, I was informed that the paid amount of £95 can be rolled over if the follow-on booking is placed within 2 months. This was in contrast to what I was told before!
I asked for a confirmation in writing (email) but I did not get a reply in 4 days. And it appears that the cancellation has not gone through the system, since I am getting an invite to give a review.
In addition to that, I had problems to pay for booking via the Lumley Fee website. I never received a follow-up email to do the payment after receiving the "provisional booking confirmation". In stead, I was asked to give card details over the phone, which I consider a unsafe practice.

I feel like my case was not very well handled and I would not book Lumley Fee bunkhouse again, if it wasn't for the £95 roll-over offer for a new booking.

The people I spoke to were very friendly but asked me if I booked through, which I had not. I was made aware that this is part of the problem, why I did not get a referral to do an online payment. This is all a bit confusing and the lack of email communication is not helping.

I expect an email stating the confirmation of cancellation for the booking on the 8th Feb plus the option for the roll-over of the £95 as I was promised over the phone.
