    “Tranquil location, superb accommodation!”

Having never been to Lakeland before, I was overwhelmed upon my arrival, by the vast scale and variety of gorgeous landscapes to behold. This seemed to continue as we headed up to Grizedale and after turning every corner, there was another stunning backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty to enjoy.

Then, we arrived at Grizedale Lodge. An inviting, humble abode that sits peacefully on the forest valley slopes. In a nutshell, we rate the genuine warm welcome, delicious and lovingly prepared food but most of all... for us, it's the little things that count and these were provided in abundance.

Richard and Debbie clearly take pride in this wonderful place and rightly so! It has a special ambiance that cannot be described in words so I shan't spoil it by trying to do so. Only a visit is recommended to fully understand the experience and the magic that is, The Lakes.

Perhaps the owners and extremely pleasant hosts of Grizedale Lodge, contribute a comparable amount of magic themselves? We truly believe so!

Thank you so much for you really lovely review and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay here so much. Grizedale Lodge is a very special place, ideal for relaxing and unwinding, where you can do as much or as little as you want. Debs does also love adding little touches to the house, to try and make it feel like a home from home - which you clearly appreciated. I do hope you are able to return again sometime. All the best Richard

Plan route to Grizedale Lodge using Google mapsPlan route using Google maps

Map reference: SD 335944  Lat: 54.34078 Long: -3.02435

Leave the M6 at jct 36 (Windermere, Kendal, South Lakes). Follow the main road (A591) to Windermere and then on to Ambleside.
Before Ambleside, turn left at the traffic lights at the edge of the lake (by the Waterhead Hotel), and follow the signs to Coniston, bearing left over a narrow bridge. After 0.25 mile turn left following the sign to Hawkshead, crossing another bridge.
When arriving at Hawkshead do not turn into the village, instead carry on to the T junction (with the car park on your right), and turn right.
Follow the road round to the left passed the school, white cottages and a car repair centre. Before the next cottages turn right (signpost to Grizedale and the Visitor Centre) and follow this road for 2 miles.
Grizedale Lodge is on the right just before you reach the visitor centre.
