    “excellent”

the property was well situated within the forest. the attention to detail from the rooms to the public areas to the dining room was outstanding. The food was delicious and the rooms well appointed and comfortable.

Thank you for your review. Debs has to take responsibility and therefore the praise for the decor and the food at the Lodge, so I am pleased you appreciated it! I hope you are able to stay again sometime. All the best Richard

Map reference: SD 335944  Lat: 54.34078 Long: -3.02435

Leave the M6 at jct 36 (Windermere, Kendal, South Lakes). Follow the main road (A591) to Windermere and then on to Ambleside.
Before Ambleside, turn left at the traffic lights at the edge of the lake (by the Waterhead Hotel), and follow the signs to Coniston, bearing left over a narrow bridge. After 0.25 mile turn left following the sign to Hawkshead, crossing another bridge.
When arriving at Hawkshead do not turn into the village, instead carry on to the T junction (with the car park on your right), and turn right.
Follow the road round to the left passed the school, white cottages and a car repair centre. Before the next cottages turn right (signpost to Grizedale and the Visitor Centre) and follow this road for 2 miles.
Grizedale Lodge is on the right just before you reach the visitor centre.
