    “OKish B&B Rubbish Customer Care”

I thought I should let you know of our experience of Hilary March. She telephoned me the day before we were due to arrive and said that a muddle had been caused as she had not received the paperwork following the booking even though your email to me was clearly copied to her. She also said that she had telephoned you when it was not received but that the office could do nothing as the person dealing with it was not there for 2 days.
Although I knew that the contract had been made when the booking was made by telephone and the deposit paid, and that she clearly knew this if she was "chasing" you for paperwork, I appreciated that muddles sometimes occur and agreed to accept the offer of a non en suite room for one night as she said that we could then be moved to an en suite for the second night.
Even though we turned up at exactly when we said we would, she was not there but the door was open and a note left for us telling us which room we were in so we sorted ourselves out.
The following morning I asked for the new room number and was told that the room promised was not, after all, available and our only option was to stay in our non en suite. She told me that she had not liked to tell me the previous evening in case I was "upset". I did not feel that this was a straight forward way of dealing with the situation and that we were being bounced into accepting the room. There was no explanation as to what had happened and I am left with suspicion that another booking was offered by someone who insisted on an en suite and she decided to double book it as we were reasonable before. I have no way of knowing if this suspicion is correct or whether she is incredibly disorganised.
Instead of being apologetic and offering a sensible explanation with which might have sympathised, she blamed everything from your office to the busyness of the weekend and treated me as though she was doing me a big favour in finding me any accommodation rather than accepting any blame for double booking us twice. I ran my own legal practice for many years and know that if something goes wrong and you are upfront about it, deal with it with integrity, apologise and, occasionally, make a discount you actually get a customer for life. Mrs Marsh dealt with it all so badly that I would never wish to see her or her B&B again.
The breakfast was well cooked but the coffee was instant and the marmalade Golden Shred and they did not have mushrooms which made the vegetarian cooked breakfast a bit sparse.
The room was arranged such that the TV was on the same plane as the bedhead so it could not be watched in comfort
