    “Delightful visit ”

We were greeted by our delightful hostess who earned top marks when she kindly carried both mine and my friend's suitcases up two floors to a top room which looked over the meadow behind the house. A lovely room, nicely decorated and with an en suite bathroom. The only reason I have not given the top mark for service and facilities is because the bath does not have a shower over, only a hand shower attached to the taps, with no shower curtain, but, as we particularly requested a room with a bath, this is not a complaint, just an observation. It is fine for hairwashing though.

The breakfasts were delicious, with locally sourced food, though I never though I would wax lyrical about bacon!! It was wonderful. Replete, we two grandma's put the roof down on the little sport's car and travelled around the Lake District, and, never having been here before, made the most of all the tiny roads up in the hills to explore, eventually returning to the fold to relax at the end of the day. Although we did not take advantage of it, there is residents lounge which has an 'honesty bar' and is very pleasant room with a view across to Bassenthwaite Lake. Several nice pubs are in the area for evening meals. We would stay again, our hosts very welcoming, and the pull of the Lakes will probably bring us here again in future years.
