Details

Nestling in the shelter of the Troutbeck Valley with views across the Garburn Pass and Applethwaite Moors. A classic Lakeland hostelry that has changed little since its time as a thriving 17thC coaching inn. The rambling rooms are full of character, featuring beams, open fires, ancient carved settles and stone flagged floors. Old prints adorn the walls of the bar created from an Elizabethan 4-poster bed originating from Appleby Castle. A variety of tantelising dishes based on local produce are served in both the bar and restaurant, which also serves real ales from Frederic Robinsons brewery.

Dogs are welcomed in 2 of our Lakeland Double rooms on the ground floor of our annex. We do ask the owners not to allow their pet on the bed and to bring their dog's bed. There is an additional charge of £20.00. Children welcome from any age.

    “Very relaxing getaway”

A little more expensive than other similar places in the area, but the accommodation and food was fantastic so definitely still worth it!
