The Hill,

Nr Windermere,

The Hill is an elegant Lakeland home which dates from the early 1800s; it is set within a magnificent topiary garden, surrounded by the indigenous countryside.

Only 12 miles from junction 36 of the M6 motorway, situated on the A591 between Kendal and Windermere, The Hill is an ideal base from which to explore some of the Lake District's finest scenery or for a break in a long journey north or south. Ings Village is also the home of the Watermill Inn, CAMRA award winning pub with a national reputation for good food and real ales.

The Hill has three bedrooms individually decorated with en-suite shower rooms, colour TV, video, radio alarm, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities; our bedrooms are as comfortable as they are attractive. We know that a hearty breakfast is the best way to start the day and we offer a traditional Cumbrian breakfast, a good selection of quality products, many of them local; freshly prepared and served in a friendly atmosphere.

In the evening, relax and unwind in our charming lounge, take time stroll round our beautiful garden or sit and ponder, soothed by the gentle sounds of the River Gower as it passes by.

“It was a great experience! ”

The environment was nice, especially quality of the air. The Ings Village is just 15 min. bus away from Windermere, but in a rural and refreshing setting very different from the Windermere town. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. Wish I had had a longer stay!

If you have Sat Nav/GPS, you can use our postcode (LA8 9QQ) to guide you, but like most rural areas, our post code covers a wide area and will probably not guide you right to The Hill; please look out for our sign, on the main road, once you have arrived in Ings Village.

How to find us from Junction 36 M6 Motorway:-
Take A591 towards Kendal / Windermere / Lake District. At the roundabout north of Kendal, continue along the A591 towards Windermere for approx 5 miles.

Reduce your speed to less than 40mph as you pass the sign for Ings Village. Continue on the main road; pass the Esso Petrol Station, the church and the Watermill Inn on the left hand side. Watch out for the speed camera!

At the end of the central reservation, look out for the sign for "The Hill" on the right. Do not turn into Grassgarth Lane.
