Owned and run by 3 generations of the Newton family since 1946, its close proximity to the North Yorkshire Moors and Captain Cook Country make Saxonville the ideal base for exploring the area on foot, by cycle or car.
Well situated on Whitby's West Cliff, the comfort and hospitality of the Saxonville Hotel can be found just a few minutes stroll from the narrow streets and winding alleyways of this delightful, historic town.
Guests return to our attractive Fairfield Restaurant for delicious cuisine prepared daily. Enjoy traditional English fare from either our table d'hote or extensive a la carte menu, accompanied by a selection of mouth-watering desserts.
Guests are assured of a warm, friendly welcome and a high standard of personal service. The spacious Reception, with fresh flowers and splendid Grandfather clock, creates a convivial atmosphere which remains with you throughout your stay.

    Directions from the West or South
    1. M62 Leeds
    2. A64 York
    3. Around York By Pass to Malton bypass
    4. Take A169 off Malton By Pass - Pickering
    5. Straight through Pickering - over Moors - Sleights
    6. Straight through Sleights up bank to roundabout
    7. Turn right towards Whitby
    8. Follow signs for West Cliff - on West Cliff you will see a large building with 4 towers - turn right in-land on to Argyle Road. Ladysmith Avenue is the first turning right after the garage.


    Directions from the North
    1. Follow the A19 South to Middlesbrough.
    2. Go over the Middlesbrough flyover (the Showcase Cinema is on your right.)
    3. Turn off the A19 onto the A174 - sign posted Guisborough, Scarborough and Whitby.
    4. Follow the signs for the A171 - this will bring you around the Guisborough by-pass and over the moors to Whitby. (If it is busy, then it is advisable to follow the “Whitby and Scarborough Diversion Signs” which are on the A174.)
    5. As you come down off the moors turn left towards Whitby.
    6. Follow signs for West Cliff - on West Cliff you will see a large building with 4 towers- turn right in land on to Argyle Road. Ladysmith Avenue is the first turning right after the garage.
