Details

The Moorhouse was extensively refurbished in 2009. Each of the 5 well appointed and attractive bedrooms has a colour television (with Freeview and DVD player) and new divan beds. The modern en suite bathrooms have baths with showers, and one on the ground floor also has grab handles for the less able. Entrance from the private car park is through a boot room with drying facilities. The beautifully appointed sitting room with television and music centre is for the exclusive use of guests. Wifi Internet is now available. Owners Simon and Lynn Bostock have created a haven for those who appreciate home comforts in elegant surroundings, and manager Jane Goodall is entrusted with caring for guests. Her full English breakfasts are a delight and she will provide lunches, afternoon teas and dinners on request. We are fully licenced to serve alcohol from 6 pm to 11 pm.

The Drovers' Inn, a small country public house, is next door to the Moorhouse. There are sports facilities nearby in Pateley Bridge, including a fitness centre and indoor swimming pool. There is also fishing in the river Nidd, with day tickets on sale in Pateley Bridge. Horse riding and other outdoor pursuits can be arranged at the Bewerley Park Centre. Walking in the splendid Nidderdale countryside or potholing at Stump Cross Caverns, are other attractions. within the area. Children welcome from age 12.

    “lovely care and food”

    There was a dirty ring at water level in the toilet bowl
    The directions into Ripon brought me to a roundabout and it said take the third exit and there was only one road off. Later I found that refered to going left at the first roundabout which had been forgotten.

    By Road:

    The Moorhouse is behind the Drovers Inn on the Kirkby Malzeard - Pateley Bridge road. Turn into Drovers car park and through white gates to car park to rear of garages.

    FROM NORTH OR SOUTH - Take A1 to Ripon. Take B6265 to Pateley Bridge. Turn right at Risplith to Grantley. After passing through Grantley, take first left towards Skelding. At T junction on moor, turn right towards Laverton and Kirkby Malzeard. Drovers Inn is on left hand side about one mile after leaving moor.

    FROM HARROGATE - Take A61 towards Ripley and Ripon. At second roundabout abeam Ripley, bear left on B6165 towards Pateley Bridge. Take first right towards Bishop Thornton and Sawley. Follow this road for 4 miles before turning off left towards Sawley. Through Sawley towards Risplith. Turn right at T junction and immediately left towards Grantley. Then as above.

    FROM WEST - Head for Pateley Bridge. Through town, take B6165 towards Harrogate. Shortly after top of hill, turn left on B6265 towards Ripon. After 1 mile, turn left towards Laverton and Kirkby Malzeard. After 4 miles, Drovers Inn is on left hand side about one mile after leaving moor.

    Notes

    • Access Statement. Introduction. The Moorhouse is a stone built Country Lodge with 5 guest bedrooms. The traditional design may pose difficulties for those with mobility problems, but guests will find the spacious rooms helpful. There are steps internally, and some doorways are not wheelchair width. Children under 12 and pets, other than guide dogs or hearing dogs, are not catered for. Car Parking & Main Entrance. The illuminated car park has a level gravel surface. Three steps (9, 6 & 6 ins) lead up to the main entrance (30 ins wide). All entrances have coded locks. There is a doorbell to alert staff. The entrance leads into a boot room, and main hallway, all on one level. Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors. Internal doors are at least 28 ins wide, except those into the dining room and downstairs WCs (24 ins). Internal steps and the staircase have treads no more than 7.5 ins high. The hallway is well lit. On the hallway level, doors lead to the Kettlestang bedroom, dining room and front door. Two steps up is the door into the sitting room, and beside it, the staircase to the first floor (12 treads with hand rails on both sides). At the top, a further 2 steps lead up to the Hambleton and Wakehill bedrooms on the left and the Eavestone bedroom on the right. The staircase and upstairs corridor are carpeted and well lit. Sitting room. This is carpeted and has an open fire. There is ample seating, including 2 wide, straight backed padded chairs, which would suit the less able. A door on the same level leads to the Ladywell bedroom Ground Floor WCs. Gentlemen and Ladies WCs for use by staying or non-staying guests are located off the dining room. Dining Room. The dining room is carpeted and has an open fire. Menus can be provided in larger print, but there are no facilities for Braille. Vegetarian and gluten-free diets can be catered for, and others with prior notice. Bedrooms. There are two twin bedded rooms and three double rooms. All have ample space either side of and between beds, which are 75 ins long and 23 ins high. Singles are 36 ins wide and doubles 72 ins wide. Feather and micro-fibre pillows are available. Bathrooms. All are en suite with WCs, wash basins and baths with thermostatically controlled showers, except the Eavestone bathroom, which has a hand held shower. The Kettlestang bathroom (ground floor) has grab rails to assist when on the WC and when bathing or showering. There are power points for electric shavers. Grounds and Gardens. A single 4.5 ins step down from the front door leads to a stone patio and walled garden. A path 35 yards long leads to the Drovers' Inn next door. There is one step down and two up (all 8 inches) on the path. Additional Information. The Moorhouse is non-smoking, but guests may smoke in the car park. There is a mains supplied fire detection and alarm system and also internal and external emergency lighting. Guests can evacuate the building via front, rear and dining room exits. Some bedroom windows can also be used. There are facilities to refrigerate medication.
