Details

Kirkby Thore is a Grade 2* listed building with parts of it dating back to the 14thC. It's set in the village of Kirkby Thore and is half a mile from the A66 and 10 minutes from jct 40 of the M6 at Penrith. Some private fishing on the Eden.

Guests arrive down a short drive, lined with trees and daffodils in the spring with ample parking space next to the hall. Entry is via the front door into the magnificent dining room with its wooden ceiling and open fireplace. Off this is the library area with a comfortable settee to sit and read either a selection of novels or study local maps and information on things to see and do in the Eden Valley and beyond. Next to this is the west facing sitting room where a 'peace and quiet' policy allows guests to spend quality time recharging their batteries.

A quaint spiral staircase leads from the dining room up to the Old Hall bedroom. This stunning room features a king sized bed set under a high pitched ceiling held up by massive oak beams and rafters, pegged together with a north facing stained glass window. Within the bedroom is a large TV with tea and coffee making facilities as well. The pretty, traditional en suite bathroom has all the usual fittings with a separate shower.

The AGA cooked breakfast is served in the dining room using locally supplied food where possible and some evening meals are available by arrangement.
Kirkby Thore provides a perfect central location for exploring the Eden Valley either by car, walking or cycling. It also acts as a good base for travelling further afield with its easy access to both the A66 and M6, making the Lake District and northern Yorkshire Dales readily available for a perfect day out following a good nights rest and hearty breakfast.
