Details

Swinton Park is a luxury castle hotel set in 200 acres of parkland in the Yorkshire Dales. It has been a family home since the late 1800s and has played host to country house parties of legendary style and grandeur. Mark and Felicity Cunliffe-Lister are enormously proud to welcome you to join them to continue this tradition.

The earliest part of the castle dates from the late 1600s which has since been extended, castellated and furnished during both the Georgian and Victorian eras. The Drawing Room, Sitting Room and Morning Room are all graciously furnished with antique furniture and family portraits and offer the guest many a quiet moment to absorb the timeless elegance of an English country house. All 31 bedrooms are individually designed on the theme of a Yorkshire town, dale, garden, castle or abbey and enjoy fabulous views over the parkland. The Turret Suite is in a class of its own, set on three circular floors, complete with a Victorian rain bath.

Swinton Park Spa has six treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge and exclusive use spa and Jacuzzi. There are a wide range of treatments using [comfort zone], Daniel Sandler, Jessica and Ytsara products.

The restored orangery in the grounds are home to a Bird of Prey Centre. Both hotel guests and non-residents are welcome to enjoy this, which appeals to all age groups both in a leisure or corporate entertainment environment. Bookings can be taken for individuals and groups and gift vouchers are available for all experiences, making an ideal present.

Our Head Chef, Simon Crannage, enjoys an enviable reputation for the quality of the food served at Samuel's. Swinton Park's 3 AA rosette Restaurant. The emphasis in the restaurant menu is on seasonal and local produce inspired by the fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the hotel's four acre walled garden (the largest hotel kitchen garden in the UK), and the menus change accordingly.

Swinton Park Cookery School is housed in the former Georgian stables overlooking the hotel. The new Chef Director at the Cookery School, Stephen Bulmer, brings with him a huge range of cooking themes and styles from all over the world. Stephen’s courses run over two days, one day or half a day. Themes include Aga Cookery, Express Dinner Parties, Middle Eastern & Regional French Cuisine. Stephen also runs the shorter and more relaxed Ultimate Sunday Lunch, along with the Demonstration Dining Experiences at the school – Chef’s Table and Pre-Dinner Canape Demonstrations.

Stephen is joined by; Rosemary Shrager who will be running her one day Masterclass courses; Gilly Robinson – Children’s and Family courses, Christmas-in-a-Box; Chris Bax – Foraging and Wild about Food courses and Prett Tejura who runs the Indian Masterclasses and Friday night Curry Club.

    “Wonderful relaxing break”

The hotel allowed us to relax in very calm, cosy and beautiful surroundings. The staff are the best feature, from the housekeeping, reception, waiters to more senior management.. They were all very knowledgable about their surroundings and very willing to talk about them when asked. The breakfast was amazing, although some fresh fruit would have been welcome. The free wifi is a great bonus which is not generally available in other hotels of a similar standard. We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back at some time in the future.
