Gwerniago campsite is located in the heartland of rural Wales, Gwerniago is a working farm run by a Welsh speaking family. The campsite is situated just outside the village of Pennal in the beautiful Dovey Valley.
A modern stone shower and toilet block is centrally situated at the campsite. Showers are free and hot water available for washing up.
The campsite is 4 miles from the well known Centre of Alternative Technology (CAT)
Gwerniago farm has a large camping area of approximately five acres. Campers are allowed to select their own spaces, non electric pitches are not marked out. At busy times pitches with electricity will be allocated.
Facilities include toilets and showers, electrical hookups, a fridge and freezer and a chemical disposal point, Campfires are allowed in baskets off the ground. Wood can be purchased at reception. Young children can enjoy a pony ride in the evenings.
The area around the farm is ideally suited for bird watching and walking. Some of our regular visitors are Red Kites. It is possible to see the Dovey Ospreys's nest from the campsite with a good pair of binoculars. We are near the Ynyshir RSPB reserve from where the BBC SpringWatch programme was broadcasted from.
The campsite is popular with walkers and cyclists; the site offers elevated views over the Dovey Valley, woodlands, and riverside walks, and the campsite was voted third by the kids in the book 'Cool Camping Kids'.
The farm is situated 3 miles from Machynlleth, an historic market town; Aberdovey renowned for its famous golf course, harbour and beaches is a 15 minutes drive away.The seaside village of Borth is a 20mins drive away. Pennal village is within easy walking distance, the village offers a local shop and a hotel that serves drinks and food. Pennal has stong links to Welsh history that include Owain Glyndwr and Lleucu Llwyd, 20 min drive to Talyllyn pass for the Mach loop.
There are several sporting activities within easy reach of the campsite including sea and fresh water fishing, clay pigeon shooting, mountain bike Centre, boarding centre, kite surfing hire and tuition, swimming pool and leisure centre.
The local area also caters for less energetic activities with its miles of golden beaches, historical attractions, country walks and endless supplies of peace and quiet.

Situated 3 miles from Machynlleth on the A493 towards Aberdovey. If arriving by train please arrange to book a taxi for onward travel to Pennal from Machynlleth.
