Access Statement for The Post House Bed and Breakfast Introduction Ibstock Village is located in North West Leicestershire, it is within easy reach of Leicester City via public transport or car. Ibstock has good access to both the M1 and A42(M) Birmingham. The Post House is on the High Street in Ibstock next door to the Local Post Office and offers three large double bedrooms, two with en-suite, one with separate bathroom. The property is full of character as it dates back to the 1800's and has its own private court yard. Some people may find some parts of the building difficult to access, however assistance is always on hand from the proprietors. We look forward to welcoming you. Pre-Arrival For full details on how to reach us please see the directions section of our website, alternatively you can use any of the Internet journey planners. * The nearest railway station is in Leicester and it has excellent links with taxi and public transport services. We also benefit from the bus stops being in close proximity to the Post House. * The Post House offers an abundance of local tourist information. *The area surrounding the Post House is level and well maintained by N/W Leicestershire District Council. Car Parking and Arrival * Car parking is available on site in a gated court yard with street like lighting which illuminates this area on day/night sensors. * The court yard benefits from a level tarmac surface and can provide parking for 8-10 cars. * The residents access is via a std double glazed door which has three wide steps leading to it, however if this presents a problem we can offer alternative level access, on a need for basis. * In close proximity to the Post House there is a free car park and a time restricted drop off lay-bye. * Note one the proprietors will always be on hand to assist, even the most able bodied. Welcome Area * Arrival at the Post House, you will receive a warm meet and greet welcome. Upon entering the premises into a wide hallway you will then access a larger reception area and offered seating during your registration. * The reception area and hallway are well illuminated with classical drop chandeliers and the floor surface is a mahogany style wood which creates a warm aesthetic feeling. * Once again one of the proprietors will be on hand to offer any assistance required. * Guest will be shown the dinning room and then to their bedroom. * Guest will be informed how to contact us in the event of an emergency day/night. Bedrooms * We have 3 bedrooms all on the first floor. All rooms are carpeted and do not have rugs. * Bedroom 1 - is located at the top of the main staircase, there is a step 9"/230mm high as you step into the room. The door width is 32"/810mm wide and 69"/1755mm High. There is overhead lighting which can be operated as you enter the room and a pull cord over the bed. There are two table lamps one each side of the bed. This room has a walk in wardrobe with overhead lighting. The bed is king-size 5'/1524mm wide and 22.5"/570mm high. * Bedroom 2 - is accessed at the top of the main staircase up one step 9"/230mm along the front hallway. Just as you enter this room there is a small 2"/50mm step, the door width is 30"/762mm and standard height 6'6"/1980mm. There is overhead lighting the switch is as you enter and there is a pull cord over the bed. The bedroom has one 4'/1372mm bed 22.5"/570mm high and a single bed 3'/915mm wide and 20"/50.5mm high this bed and be turned into a bunk bed for the use of children accompanying adults. * Bedroom 3 - is located at the end of the front hallway the door to this room is narrow 25"/635mm and standard height 6'6"/1980mm. There is overhead lighting which has a pull cord as you enter. There are two table lamps at either side of the bed. The floor to this room although carpeted is not level it is part of the old building. There is a wrought Iron double bedstead 4.5'/1372mm wide and 26.5"/673mm high this height can be lowered if guest requires. Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (En-suite or Shared) * The bathroom is architecturally unique with its access but once inside, the sunken bathroom is spacious. * It has a large white Porcelain free standing wash basin mounted on four porcelain legs with large wall mounted mirror and shaving point. * Double sized shower cubical with multiple shower heads and sliding doors. * Large white bath with central taps and shower unit in chrome in keeping with the rest of the bathroom fittings. * Low level WC in matching white porcelain. * The bathroom benefits from good lighting as well as decorative lighting. * The entrance to the bathroom has short pile carpet and as you descend the four carpeted steps with hand rail into a fully tiled area which has been tastefully renovated in recent years by the owners. The sumptuous shades of brown and cream bring alive this period bathroom. * Bedroom 1- has en-suite facilities. with bath and shower over, built in vanity unit and toilet. Bath height 22"/560mm, toilet height 16"/406mm. This en-suite is fully tiled in white, grey and blue. * Bedroom 2 - has the use of the main bathroom. * Bedroom 3 -has en-suite facilities there are two wide steps up into the entrance it has a large step in corner shower with glass screen and opening door, pedestal wash hand basin and standard low flush WC. This en-suite is fully tiled in light biscuit shades. Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors * The ground floor hallway and reception area are of a mahogany wood finish with a short pile carpeted staircase and corridor leading to the first floor bedrooms. * The staircase also benefits from a wide access (1070mm/42"), hand rails on either side with only 12 treads to the first floor. * All hallways and corridors are well illuminated with ceiling lights. Public Areas - Lounge Not Applicable. Dining Room * The dining room is situated on the ground floor off of the main hallway with a small step on entry. * The door opening to the dining room is 32"/812mm wide. * There is one large dinning table placed central in the room. * All crockery contrast with table linen. * Lighting is by two overhead and two wall lights so that lighting can be controlled. This is an inner room and there is no natural lighting. * The floor is carpeted in good quality short pile wool carpet. * Most dietary needs can be catered for if guest advises when booking. * Cereals, fruit juice, fresh fruit and coffee etc. are all self-service All cooked breakfasts served to guests requirements. * The nearest WC is just at the top of the main staircase. Garden * There is a paved patio area with tables and chairs. There is also an undercover area with table and chairs this is available to guests as a smoking area. * There is a terraced garden with garden seating available which can be accessed from the courtyard by way of five steps. Additional Information * The proprietor has attended training on Disability Awareness. * We have in place an evacuation procedure - and detailed in all rooms. * We welcome trained assistance dogs. A water bowl will be placed outside or if necessary can be arranged in the bedroom. * There are good colour contrast between floors, walls and doors throughout all public areas and in bedrooms. * There are mobility shops located in Ashby and Coalville only a short drive away. * The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit are in Leicester and Loughborough. There is a Walk-In Centre based in Loughborough. The nearest GP surgery is just 2 minutes down the road from us. Please let us know if you require further information. * We offer free Wi-fi Internet access. * We have lots of information available to guests on tourist attractions and places to eat out and take away delivery services. Please ask it you require further information. Future Plans * We are always open to guests comments regarding advertising and accessibility to our website.
