Sea-Breakers is a former fisherman's two bedroomed holiday cottage situated in the unspoilt Edwardian seaside town of Filey.
The cottage is situated in the old town of Filey and has been newly refurbished to a high standard, keeping many of the original fixtures and fittings. The cottage is just five minutes walk away from Filey's superb beach, Filey Brigg and just around the corner are Filey's shops, bars and restaurants.
The cottage has two bedrooms, the main bedroom has 1 double bed and the second has full size bunk beds. The bathroom has a modern bathroom suite with shower over and towel rail. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, washer and fridge/freezer. In the lounge there is a 32" T.V. with freeview plus DVD player. It also has 2 two seater settees and dining room table with four chairs. There is also a modern wall hung electric fire. The property has gas central heating with radiators in all rooms.
There is off street parking on a first come first served basis, plus plenty of on-street parking.
Just across the road is Filey Museum which is well worth a visit which is full of old memorabilia of how Filey used to be many moons ago.
Filey is a great base for visiting other parts of Yorkshire including Scarborough, Whitby and Robins Hood's Bay to the north or you could go south to visit Bempton Cliffs, which is a RSPB reserve, for great bird-watching or keep going to Bridlington and Hornsea. If you want a little culture you could visit Castle Howard (Brideshead revisited was filmed here), Sledmere House and Harewood House in Leeds. If you are a sports enthusiast there a numerous golf courses nearby including 2 at Scarborough, 2 at Bridlington, Hornsea, Malton, Driffield and Ganton. If you like the sea you may want to go windsurfing, sailing or canoeing. Or if you just enjoy walking you could walk the length of the beach or walk on top of the cliffs for great views towards Scarborough or south towards Flamborough Head.
The town has been a popular destination for families since the Edwardian times. If you walk down to the Coble Landing you will still see the local fishermen going to sea to catch the local brown crab and lobster!

On arrival at Seabreakers, we were somewhat disappointed to find that the walls in the lounge were displaying signs of damp - quite extensive, and there was a stale musty smell,the tv wasn't working, and the outside space had 2 hanging baskets full of dead flowers.
Whilst this may seem fussy, I was tourism officer for my local district for 14 years and have extensive knowledge of the quality we should have had staying in a 4* cottage, Seabreakers did not reach that grading recently.
The owner did rectify the tv the following morning, but after a long journey with a young family, it was not ideal. The description of the cottage also said we had free wifi access, this was not the case. Wifi access certainly - if we paid for it. Again a disappointment.
Would I return or recommend Seabreakers, no.

GROUND FLOOR Sea-Breakers is accessed through the front door, which leads directly into the lounge which has a solid oak floor. The kitchen is accessed off the lounge. The kitchen has a stone floor. The outside seating area is accessed from the kitchen and is on two levels. FIRST FLOOR The staircase, which has a hand rail, is accessed from the lounge leading to a small landing which has the bathroom. Up a further two stairs, to the main landing, which has the two bedrooms, both of which are carpeted.
