Details

Whether your visit to Ely is for business or pleasure, a warm welcome awaits in this Grade II listed house. Within the shadow of the cathedral it is also close to Cromwell's house, TIC, museums, shops, restaurants and main facilities. All rooms are en suite and well appointed with views of the delightful walled garden. According to recent archaeological research this was the site of the Saxon market place. After the Cathedral was built 1081 the land was within the monastery precincts until the mid 1800's. The house itself was built for a Doctor. Subsequently it went into the ownership of the Comins family, auctioneers, who lived in the house and operated their business from the premises for over a hundred years.

The present owners have sympathetically restored and refurbished it, not only to preserve important features but also provide guests with the highest standard of modern comfort. The proportions of the house are singularly Georgian. Of particular note is its fine Oriel window and elegant winding staircase.

For guests there are two suites, each one has its own luxury bathroom with heated towel rail and cast iron bath with mixer taps. Each en suite is decorated individually with period furnishings and has a TV, radio, hair dryer, a selection of books and a hospitality tray.

At breakfast enjoy meeting other guests around the family dining table. Fresh fruit, free range eggs, homemade preserves are included on the menu.

Check in time is between 5-7pm unless by prior arrangement. Check out time on departing is 10.30am.
