Spoilt for Choice

You've searched for the dates and place you want to visit but how do you choose from the many attractive properties with availability? The national grading system awards stars to indicate the overall quality of the experience. You can use the 'Order by' option to show the accommodation with the most stars first.

There are also national gradings for welcoming walkers, cyclists, families and pets. Special gold, silver and rose awards are given to reflect exceptional quality. Accessibilty gradings allow you to choose accommodation which meets particular mobility, visual or hearing needs.

In addition to the national schemes, there are a range of other awards covering everything from green tourism to a great British breakfast. Clicking on the symbols for each property will show what each award means.

We hope you have a great trip!

Details

In beautiful walking/rambling countryside 12 miles from Cambridge & 6 miles from Saffron Walden, the Three Hills is a delightful 17th Century free house Inn with clean & modern en-suite rooms in a traditionally-built building alongside. Oak-beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces, home-cooked food and real ales are on offer along with a warm welcome from Jason & Gemma.

The accommodation provides two double and two twin rooms (one disabled-friendly), all with en-suite shower facilities, colour TV and tea & coffee-making facilities. The pub provides an extensive lunchtime and evening menu of home-cooked traditional pub food, including a large vegetarian selection. Breakfast is served in the Pub and is excellent value at £5.

Whether you are a touring visitor wishing to explore the area, a business traveller staying overnight or have family at University in Cambridge you will be made very welcome at the Three Hills - an ideal place to stay with easy access to the M11, A11, A14 & A505. Local attractions include Historic Cambridge, Duxford Air Museum, Newmarket Racecourse, Audley End, Linton Zoo, Chilford Barns Vineyard and the Old English market town of Saffron Walden.

We welcome everyone at The Three Hills, Bartlow.
We have four bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities including shower room, wc and wash basin. Two rooms are on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The first floor rooms are reached via an external staircase and therefore are unsuitable for those unable to manage stairs. The ground floor bedrooms are reached via a shallow wooden decked ramp easily accessible directly from the car park. Room 2 is our 'disabled friendly' room with wider access into the shower room (80cm) and plenty of space to move around. If you have any specific questions that you need to ask with regard to the rooms then please ring to ask - we will do everything we can to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There is a private car park situated directly between the accommodation building and the pub building. It has a compacted shingle surface and, although a little uneven in places, is easily negotiable for wheelchair users. If you require help with luggage then assistance can be given - come and find us in the pub.

Ground Floor Rooms (Rooms 1 & 2 - both doubles)

The rooms are reached via an easily negotiable shallow ramp from the car park leading directly into the rooms with no step. Short-pile carpeted room straight through into shower room which has a flat tiled floor. In Room 2 there is a 5cm water bar into the shower (to contain the water) which itself is flat tiled as before. The shower cubicle itself in this room is the full width of the room (120cm) with plenty of space to move around. There is space both sides of bed but beds can be moved to create extra space one side if required. Rooms contain a double bed, bedside tables, bedside table lamps, wardrobe, small table & chair with Information pack, tea & coffee-making facilities and a TV.

First Floor Rooms (Rooms 3 & 4 - both twins)

These are situated immediately above the ground floor rooms and of the same size and configuration. The rooms are reached via an external wooden staircase directly from the car park. The staircase and corridor are lit at night. There is flat access into the rooms with no steps. Short-pile carpeted rooms straight through to shower rooms all on same level. Rooms contain two single beds, bedside tables, bedside table lamps, wardrobe, small table & chair with information pack, tea & coffee-making facilities and a TV.

Facilities

The Pub serves Breakfast between 8am & 10am Monday to Friday & between 9am & 10am at the weekend & bank holidays, Lunch is served from 12 to 2pm & Evening Meals from 6pm to 9pm- menus are available in the room packs and in the Pub. Vegetarians are well catered for and if you have a specific dietary requirement then please feel free to discuss with Gemma.

The rooms are all lockable from the inside and outside and guests will be provided with a key on arrival.

There is bottled water and tea & coffee-making facilities in the rooms - if you require fresh milk then please ask.

There is a selection of toiletries (soap, shampoo and shower gel) in the room for your use with our compliments. If you require further supplies during your stay then please let us know.

The duvets and pillows are made of a synthetic filling suitable for people with allergies.

Electric heating is thermostatically controlled in the rooms and can be adjusted accordingly. Heating to the bathroom area is by way of an electrically heated towel rail , please be careful it can get very hot when on.

An iron and ironing board is available if required, please ask if you need to use it.

We welcome assistance dogs in the rooms, by prior arrangement, but do not generally allow other pets. Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the pub.

The Pub

The main building dates from the 17th Century and has many beams and a lovely open fireplace. Consequently, there are quite a few small steps in the building but none should be too limiting for a wheelchair. If you require extra help then we will do our utmost to assist and direct you using the most accessible doorways.
Access to the Pub is via the main entrance, closer to the road, or the smaller door nearer to the accommodation. The main entrance has a wider door and is better for wheelchair users. From the main door there is a 3" threshold step down into the flag-stoned lobby then a small step down into the bar area or a raised threshold bar into the dining room. The dining room is carpeted and flat with a narrow doorway through to the toilet lobby area which is flagstone. There is a wide door with a step up into the toilets (tiled floor) with a doorway straight through to the ladies which is all flat. There are two additional steps up into the gents toilets area which is a flat tiled area.
The bar area can be accessed from the main entrance lobby with a small step down. There is a wooden floor by the fire with access to the toilet lobby or a small step up to the second bar area, also wooden floored. There is a small step up into a further bar area which is carpeted with mainly tables and chairs in situ. The second access door to the car park leads off this area with a small step up.

If you need any other information or would like to discuss any special requirements then please do not hesitate to contact Jason or Gemma on (01223) 891259 or e-mail threehills@rhubarb-inns.co.uk. As the pub is not open all day there is an answer-phone on between the lunchtime and early evening sessions - please leave a message and we will get straight back to you. We look forward to welcoming you to the Three Hills and hope you enjoy your stay!
