Low Edge Cottage is a modernised, comfortably furnished cottage to the rear of an 18thC house in the attractive, ancient market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, only a 2-minute walk to the town centre. It has an open-plan living room with log fire, digital TV, DVD and a CD/radio. The kitchen/dining area has all essential modern facilities including microwave oven, dishwasher, electric fan oven and hob, fridge/freezer. There are 3 bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single room with an additional pullout bed sleeping 6 in all. The bathroom has a bath/overhead power shower. A downstairs cloakroom has an additional toilet and integrated washer/dryer. Regrettably, the cottage is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Off-road parking for 1 car is available. A conservatory with comfortable seating, a variety of games and a football/table tennis table, opens onto an enclosed patio garden with table and seating. Bed linen, towels and tea towels included, along with electricity, gas for central heating and an initial supply of coal and logs. A cot and a high chair are available on request but please provide own bedding. Free Wi-Fi offered. Regrettably, no pets or smoking are permitted in the cottage.

Appleby is ideally placed for exploring the Eden Valley, North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Appleby is an ancient market town steeped in history and well known for the annual gypsy horse fair held in June. Leisure facilities include a modern swimming pool and gym, an eighteen-hole golf course, fishing on the river Eden, convenient local shops, numerous inns and eating establishments. There is a railway station on the famous and picturesque Settle - Carlisle railway for rail trips and not far away is the Eden Valley Railway for railway enthusiasts. National Trust Acorn Bank Gardens and Hazel Dene Garden Centre, Culgaith are approximately 8 miles away for the gardener. Excellent walks in any direction for the gentle walker or more strenuous, higher routes for the more adventurous. Various art galleries and studios are within a short radius of Appleby. For literature lovers it is not far to travel to the homes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. Children welcome from any age.

To Appleby-in-Westmorland from the north and west, take M6 to jct 40, take A66 to the east, exit at Appleby-in-Westmorland, head to town centre. From the market square at the bottom of Boroughgate proceed up the hill towards the castle. Low Edge is situated behind The Limes which is on the right hand side of Boroughgate near the High Cross monument in the centre of the road. Park temporarily outside The Limes. Call at the house and you will be shown where to park for access to Low Edge Cottage.
From the south leave the M6 at jct 38 and take the B6260 via Tebay and Orton to Appleby-in-Westmorland. As you enter the town, approximately 12 miles from jct 38, follow the main road round the castle wall on your right, up Shaw's Wiend. The road bends round to the left at the top. The Limes is almost immediately on your left; park temporarily outside and call at the house. You will be shown where to park for access to Low Edge.
From the east take A66 from Scotch Corner, at exit for Appleby-in-Westmorland follow B6542 to town centre then follow instructions as above from the north and west.
There is a railway station in the town which is on the Settle - Carlisle railway. It is 15 minute walk to Low Edge Cottage from the station. We would be happy to collect you by car from the station if arranged in advance.
There are bus services from Penrith and Kendal.
